Stress analysis, finite element analysis, fractography, software, SEM work, coupon and component testing, NDI, corrosion protocols and testing...we can either do it on-site or coordinate it with one of our strategic partners.

Finite-Element Analysis

AP/ES is highly experienced in the use of ESRD's StressCheck® p-version finite element software. AP/ES personnel also have experience with MSC/NASTRAN®, MSC/PATRAN®, and other private and commercial FEA engines, preprocessors, postprocessors, and Application Programming Interfaces (API's).

Computing Infrastructure

The St. Louis offices have multiple Windows 2000 and Windows XP workstations with Microsoft Office Suite®, dedicated internet server and high-powered analysis server PC's, multiple licenses of the finite-element analysis software StressCheck® (ESRD, Inc., St. Louis, MO), licenses of Mathcad® and MATLAB®, and installations of many custom and industry-standard software programs for engineering analyses, including stress analysis, crack nucleation, crack growth, composite analysis, spectrum processing, and others. AP/ES has software development, porting, and modification capabilities in numerous languages, including Microsoft Visual Basic®, Visual Basic for Applications® (VBA, used for Office Suite® macros), FORTRAN, C, C++, Perl, and Unix/Linux scripting.

Failure Analysis & Testing Equipment

On-site state-of-the-art failure analysis equipment includes a stereoscope, an optical light microscope, and imaging software. AP/ES also possesses on-site a 22,000 pound capacity MTS load frame and equipment for optical strain measurement.

Partner Agreements

AP/ES personnel have hands-on experience with specialized equipment not available on-site, as well as close relationships with third-party software developers. We work very closely with regional and international partners, allowing us ready access to conduct or subcontract specific tasks requiring SEM equipment, larger or multi-axis MTS testing machines, corrosion laboratories, software modifications, and direct access to operational airframe structure.

Network Infrastructure

APES, Inc. subscribes to five land telephone lines, one asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) for office internet communications (1500/384 kbps), and one separate ADSL line dedicated to internet servers (1500/768 kbps). Internet serving & hosting capability is uninterruptible power supply (UPS) connected and includes web, FTP, and remote terminal server connections.
